Bee Package Travel information: For Alaska,

Bees going to Alaska will be shipping on Alaska Airlines. Four hours from the time they are put in packages.  You get them that morning when they arrive.  It doesn't get any better than that. We get a good product and everyone has been very satisfied with the bees.  All the bees in 2012 arrived in excellent shape. All clustered cool and calm.    No half-dead packages.

Also, we go the extra mile on the packages, we weight out 5.25 pounds of bees.  Why? Because they are feed full and that is weight, more food less bees.  So we weight out a little more to assure you get 25,000 bees.  A very important number when the first months attrition occurs in the hive.  More bees to keep the brood warm and get the package well on its way to critical mass by the time the flow starts. The colony will only support the brood it can keep warm.

Call anytime my cell phone, 907-360-8182.

Bee Package Travel information:  For Washington State,

Bees coming into Washington will be delivered by soft suspension truck as to not knock them out of their cluster.  They travel from Mc Minnville, Oregon.  Its about a four hour drive from there to all points of delivery.  Much better than a 12 hour drive out of California.  Also, these bees have been off the almonds for three weeks, which means they are young nurse bees that we package. Not old worn out field bees.  They also are from a like climate which helps out on their survival.

 Order Via Shopping Cart!!

The Queens are Italian or Carniolas.

Extra queens are 24.00 and if a Queen dies we have replacements at no charge. For the first week.

We also carry MegaBee Pollen patties mix, along with Optima, Nozevit, and Bee Cleanse. This is available year round and when you pick up the Bees.  Highly recommended in the new Package

Optima, Nozevit, And Bee Cleanse are essential for Honey Bee Health

What do these products do for the health of the bees?

Nozevit Plus incorporates the original highly popular Nozevit product and adds additional whole plant polyphenols aimed at the longer term health of the honey bee while maintaining the same application rate and methodology. It is an all natural product helping to promote and maintain the intestinal integrity of the honey bee along with long term health and vitality of your bees.
Take a Look at the LAB results from the University of Zagreb.  Located on left here as Nozevit Independant Study.

M01958 NOZEVIT PLUS 1 LITER EACH

Optima is a new all natural honey bee food supplement and feeding stimulant that is to be mixed into sugar syrup and pollen patties. It contains whole plant polyphenols known for their intestinal cleaning properties along with a complex essential oil package to help promote a healthy intestinal tract in the honey bee as well as overall hive health, vigor, productivity and cleanliness. Benefits: Feeding stimulant, antibacterial for bees and hive components, calms bees when sprayed on bees, queen acceptance, combining weak hives and swarms, encourages hygienic behavior.

If you aren't already using OPTIMA in every feeding of a NEW Package of Bees, you should be. It is very important to get these packages off to a healthy start.  Especially

during inclimate weather.

M01925 OPTIMA 100ML Each

Bee Cleanse is another fine product brought to us by the makers of Nozevit and Optima. It is a ready to use feed supplement effective in providing a complete, balanced source of nutrients. Bee Cleanse is made up of plant polyphenols, vitamins, minerals, amino acids, herbal extract blend, phytonutrient concentrates, and enzymes. All natural, and ready to use. Two feedings per 16 oz. bottle. Ship wt. 2 pounds.

It is improtant when you get your Bee Package that you feed these products.

The reason is the stress that the bees have in shipping, even though a very short time, can be greatly reduced with good nutrition.  Give your bees the best start as possible in their new home.  Healthy bees  = lots of honey and they are more able to endure the stress of travel.

It is also important to feed in the Fall when putting the food on for winter.  I feed a strong hive about 5#'s of MegaBee Pollen Pattie in the Fall and for Spring Build up in January.  It has been very successful.  I also re-queen the colony in August.

I get my Queens when I re-queen from Dan & Judy Harvey, Olympic Wilderness Apiary.www.wildernessbees.com.  This is to get young brood in the nest for the winter. When Spring arrives you will notice the difference.  Look below, One of the main things I notice is the brood pattern on the frame.  Lots of young bees going into winter.   Very improtant!!

Dan is a very meticulous Queen Breeder.  Call Dan, if he isn't in the bee yard he'd love to talk to ya.  360-928-3125. Or click on the Link Provided above.

Olympic Penninsula Bee Keepers can also order on the form in this section and email me the form.

The bees are in the packs about 6 hours when they get to the customers.  They are young bees that have been off the almond pollination for about three weeks.  Which means they are not wornout out old field bees you are getting. They are young nurse bees.  We make sure the queen is in the bottom brood chamber.  All capped brood in the top box.  Nurse bees gather around the capped brood in the top box and those are the ones we gather for the package. We don't fumigate the bees to get them into the top box to shake out.  I personally help in the process every year.  It is important to me to be informed about the process and deliver the best product I can. I don't drive for two days with the Bees in the back of a truck bouncing along the road in 90 degree heat.

These bees come out of McMinnville, Oregon.  They have a four and a half hour ride in the early morning cool weather.  It makes a big difference in the stress level of the bees.

Olympic Wilderness Apiary Queen  One of OWA Queens July 2012.(Olympic Wilderness Apiary)

These Queens are checked for Quality before they are shipped out.  Dan checks the success of the breeding many times with a microscope on Queens before he ships a batch out to customers. The process involves killing a queen and checking the spermatica to see if it was a successful mating.  Queens cost lots of time an money to raise, an a unmated or poorly mated queen sent to a customer cost even more.
